Notes
Lux Perpetua (Perpetual Light) was inspired by different types of religious expression. The Latin title makes reference to the ancient traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, but the movement titles evoke various other traditions, both ancient and modern. The music does not attempt to make use of preexistent materials (such as the imitation of organ music or the rearrangement of a spiritual) but merely to reflect a mood or feeling which might be inspired by one of these religious expressions. It is dedicated to my father, Dr. Patrick Hemenger.
